Church of the Advent | September 5 & 6, 2018 | 9–10 semi-finalists | 45 minutes​
  • One of the following four pieces:
    • Komm, Heiliger Geist, Herre Gott, BWV 652
    • Herr Jesu Christ, dich zu uns wend, BWV 655
    • Nun danket alle Gott, BWV 657
    • Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 660
  • Vater unser im Himmelreich, BWV 682
  • One of the following two pieces:
    • Concerto in A Minor, BWV 593
    • Concerto in D Minor, BWV 596
  • One of the following four pieces:
    • Toccata and Fugue in C Minor, BWV 911 (arr. Max Reger)
    • Fantasy and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 913 (arr. Max Reger)
    • Franz Liszt: Fantasy and Fugue on the theme B-A-C-H (1855 version)
    • Robert Schumann: 6 Fugues on B.A.C.H., nos. 2 and 5
Round 3
The First Lutheran Church of Boston | September 8, 2018 | 5 finalists | 60 minutes​
​A 60-minute program (including time between works, no intermission) chosen by the competitor which must incorporate:
  • Any chorale partita by Bach
  • Any major prelude and fugue or toccata and fugue by Bach not used in any previous round
  • One of the following:
    • Any chorale fantasia by Nicolaus Bruhns, Dieterich Buxtehude, or Vincent Lübeck
    • Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns hält, BWV 1128
  • One or more other works of the competitor’s choice to complete a 60-minute program
